Combo Activities
A visit to New Zealand is usually limited to a relatively short period of time but many attractive locations are only accessible by foot. A hike would take several days of the precious time, so what now? How can one make the trip shorter? Should one speed up the journey there or the journey back or perhaps both of them? A helicopter, a small airplane or a jetboat are the most suitable means of transport. Moreover, using them enhances the experience – either by offering a bird's eye view or the speed of the adventurous ride on a jetboat.
An example? One of the popular services in the Mt. Aspiring National Park – a unique combination of a flight, an alpine hike and a ride on a jetboat.
You take off in a small airplane or a helicopter to fly to an alpine valley. During a 25-minute flight, you will see beautiful panoramas of mountains, snow fields and glaciers of the Mount Aspiring NP. You will land in an alpine valley, surrounded by high mountain peaks. From this valley, you will walk along a maintained path across the original silver beech primeval forest for three hours until you descend to the river valley. There, a jetboat will be waiting for you, which will take you along the wonderful valley with views of the surrounding mountains during a 30-minute fast and exciting ride. The entire event takes approximately 4 to 5 hours. Just for sake of comparison – a hike to this alpine valley takes 3 days.
Or you are in Fiordland and you want to see the whole panorama of the Te Anau Lake and you want to take a walk, too. In that case, a helicopter will be used; it will take you to the altitude of one thousand four hundred metres and then you will descend on foot on your own, having fascinating views of the surrounding mountain ranges and arms of the lake. In addition to that, you can make a part of your trip shorter and more pleasant by cruising across the lake in a ship.

Note: These activities are dependant on favourable weather and, regrettably, sometimes they have to be cancelled or postponed (however, there is an alternative programme prepared for such situations).

For example, you can cruise one day along the majestic fiords; on one of the following days, you can go from Queenstown on a cruise on the Wakatipu Lake in an original steamship from the year 1912 or you can add a visit to the caves with "fireflies" in Te Anau.
