Winners of a prize competition with Snickers
Hurled by complete coincidence and without any prior plans across a half of the world, but securely and professionally caught by Martin Slíva at the airport in Christchurch, my wife Jitka and I set off for a fortnight journey around New Zealand.
The very first evening in a motel, although 22,000 km away from the vineyard hills of Pálava, reminded of a gathering in a wine cellar somewhere at Podluží. The three litres of excellent New Zealand wine, bought by Martin, were all nearly consumed, which was commented on by Martin in the morning with the words: "I forgot you come from Moravia."
And that was just the beginning. I do not mean to say that all evenings were in a similar spirit but every following evening and, above all, every following day was equally great and packed with experience. I will not list and describe all the activities we went through (of course, they were all ensured and arranged by Martin and his wife Vladka); but I can tell you there were really a lot of them: swimming with dauphins; bungee jumping from Kawarau Bridge; ride on a jetboat along Wilkin River; sightseeing flight over South Alps and a trek along Siberia Valley; ascent to Glacier Fox; parasailing above the Taupo Lake; and, last but not the least, participation in a Moorish feast.
The entire stay and trip was without a single problem and even the infamous St. Peter and his weather were in our favour. We only have to admit we got properly drenched by rain during the trip to Milford Sound but rain is actually an inseparable part of this area. One cannot get to know this country in two weeks; one would need a period ten times longer but the knowledge and love, by which Martina and Vladka are tied to this part of our planet, made it up for us.If we were to get on an airplane heading to the Land of Long White Cloud again, I would first call their Queenstown telephone number to make sure that our next visit to this wonderful country takes place without a single flaw again."
With many thanks,
Jitka and Vítezslav Šípek, Brno
They undertook the journey with Martin and Vladka as the guides in January 2005.
Our note: Jitka and Víta won the Prize Competition with Snickers, which was a 14-day tour to NZ. We prepared this tour on behalf of the Adventura travel agency, which was its official organiser, and we thank them for trusting us.
